Pursuit of Excellence is what I'm about. The passion of photography that grabbed me in Junior High School, is still alive and kicking today. 32 years full-time in business with my wife and partner has presented us with many opportunities and challenges. Never one to say no; our photographic assignments have been all across the board. Babies, children, families, high school seniors, weddings, models, sports, photojournalism, commercial, wildlife, fine art and pets to name some. As an artist, my first goal was to master lighting and posing. From there the equipment had to become second nature. When working with subjects, it's the skill of making them feel at ease while studying and capturing the lighting, posing and composition that makes the portraits art pieces. Many of my finished works are completed in Painter to add that 'artistic' touch. My philosophy is rather simple. I break it down into 3 parts. #1. One must make a difference when capturing the image. That means knowing your equipment. Knowing lighting (all kinds). Knowing posing. Knowing composition and color. And working with the client to capture the expression and feel that you want. It's not just pushing the button. #2. Knowing how to handle the images in the computer. Retouching, enhancement, color adjustment and other digital techniques that will add to the final image. #3. The making and finishing of the print. We are in the print market. Our visual medium needs to be seen. On the walls and displays around the world. So what paper or surface your image is printed on and how it is finished makes a big difference. All great artists finish off their work. Completely. As a coach; I have been fortunate to help many other photographers and artists with their struggle and concerns. More than anything, an artist has to feel inside themselves and ignite the passion that hooked them on photography in the first place. And never, ever, ever quit learning! Ron Jacobson, CPP, M.
