Alycia Alvarez

Alycia has always had a passion for photography. During her years in college getting her degree in social work, she also studied the art of black and white photography as an elective every spare moment she had. After becoming a mother herself, she realized how quickly her children changed right before her very eyes. Relentlessly, she began to document their little lives through countless photographs, which she knew would capture a glimpse of the person they were at each particular moment in their life. Capturing true and genuine personality is Alycia's passion. She is very playful and easy going. The children especially respond to her with a great sense of comfort and ease. As you look through the portfolio, you will undoubtedly feel the connection that Alycia is able to make with her subjects and, especially, children.

Based in Tampa, Florida and now opening a 2nd studio in Dallas, Texas, Alycia is excited to be a part of such a unique educational experience! Specializing in maternity, newborns, children & families, Alycia realizes it’s CRUCIAL to understand lighting, posing and technique, however, when working with children, it’s equally (if not MORE!) important to be able to roll on the floor and “be silly” (which sometimes requires *snorting like a pig”!) Kids love photographers with personality… and it’s vital to realize that you can have perfect lighting and cropping, but if the image lacks an expression which comes from *INTERACTION*…none of that matters.

Approximately 80% of Alycia’s business is devoted to her “Bella Baby” first year program. She will explain the details of Bella Baby, including an outline of her favorite ways to light and pose the various ages of a “baby’s first year,” beginning with maternity and leading to newborn, 3–4 months, 6–7 months and 1 year. In addition, she will also share her best tricks for interacting with babies at these various ages. Alycia will also share her studio “workflow”, including marketing and networking tips which have made her a success and allow her business to thrive even during tougher economic times.
